The Gender Pay Gap
Currently, there is not a country in existence where all women earn an equal amount of money as men. Despite working the same job, giving the same amount of effort and working the same amount of time. Women evidently earn less than men in many fields of work. We undoubtedly believe that all women worldwide should be rewarded fairly and not be discriminated by gender.
Women are globally paid less than men despite the equal employment provided. For example there is an estimate of
- Australian women paid 17.5% less than men
- Canadian women paid 72% less than men
- British women paid 69% less than men
- American women paid 66% less than men
- Chinese women paid 63% less than men
- French women paid 50% less than men
- Italian and Israeli paid 52% less than men
However, fortunately these percentages are gradually decreasing. The highest countries according to research in 2013 in income equality is Iceland, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
They’re many consequences to women earning less. Although the most crucial effects are smaller incomes for women to provide for themselves and their families. This means that over a life time of work women will end up with a smaller savings for retirement then what was actually worked for.
We believe women who earn less due to discrimination towards gender deserve income equality. Though there are authorities who are still refusing to pay women an equal amount of money as men, despite many empowering feminists’ movements.
They’re reasons to a gender pay between men and women. One of which is society’s opinion of equality. Many people still believe in patriarchal values this results in women earning an unequal amount than men.
This is a real life example of unequal pay for women

Margaret was a 35 years old cashier at an Italian restaurant when she realised her she earned an unequal amount of money when compared to a man. The restaurant is located in Los Angeles, California. Margaret received $5.50 an hour, however Dan who also works as a cashier in the same restaurant earned $7 an hour. Her boss attempted to deny the unfair treatment when he was confronted. However the pay cheques confirmed it. He concluded by confessing that he thought Dan should be paid more, due to his gender.
